STARS, which provides HEMS services in Western Canada, has completed its transition to a single-type fleet based on the H145. The HEMS provider recently said farewell to the last BK117 in its fleet. Ironically, the last aircraft was also the first, not only for STARS but for the entire continent, as it was the first BK117 to fly in North America when it entered service as the then MBB’s demonstrator in 1983.

STARS began the single-type transition in 2019 when it began replacing not only its BK117s, which had been in service with the charity since 1985, but also its AW139s, which it operated between 2013 and 2020.
