The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted approval of an STC which will allow Recoil Aerospace’s T1000-E fire suppression system to be installed on the Super Puma series.
The T1000-E is a 3,785-litre (1,000 USG) lightweight carbon fibre retractable externally mounted wildfire suppression tank. It has rapid filling (35-40 seconds) and fast drops (5 seconds). An integrated 132-litre (35-gallon) foam tank enhances firefighting capabilities, while pneumatic drop valves and computer-controlled operation ensure precision.

Recoil is working on a further STC that will allow the tank to be fitted to UH-60s. Certification is underway, and completion is expected by the end of the year. In addition, STCs for the AW189, S-92, S-76, and B205 are expected in 2025.
Additionally, TCCA and EASA approvals for the Super Puma STC are underway.
