Last month, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) celebrated the 20,000-hour milestone for its AW139 fleet. The ROP was one of the first police operators to commit to the AW139, placing its first order in 2004 when the unit began re-equipping with a mix of AW139s and AW109 Powers.

In addition to its law enforcement and border security mission, the ROP fleet is also employed on SAR and EMS missions where helicopters are able to provide a vital link to medical facilities from the country’s mountainous interior. In addition, the AW139s had been used in disaster relief operations, firefighting, and to provide VVIP transport for the country’s royal family and government officials.
