Rega is standardising its H145 fleet on the five-blade D3.

Swiss Air-Rescue Rega is selling four helicopters to the New Zealand air rescue organisation GCH Aviation. The aircraft will continue to be used to help people in distress. The sale is part of a programme to modernise Rega’s helicopter fleet by the end of 2026.Rega is selling the four Airbus Helicopters H145 D2s, including their medical equipment, to GCH Aviation, based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The tried and tested helicopters will continue to be used as air ambulance helicopters.

A single-type fleetThe sale of the four aircraft marks a further step in the renewal of Rega’s helicopter fleet. Between 2024 and 2026, Rega is modernising its entire helicopter fleet and will, in future, rely on a single-type fleet of 21 five-blade H145 D3s The creation of a standard fleet means that the same type of helicopter will be used at all Rega bases in future, which the operator said would lead to savings in maintenance as well as the procurement and management of spare parts. It will also reduce Rega’s training spend.
