Pratt & Whitney Canada has selected Singapore for a new overhaul line for the PT6C-67C over other locations in the world due to the growing fleet of PT6C-67C-powered Leonardo AW139s in the region.

Irene Makris, Vice President of Customer Services, Pratt & Whitney Canada, told RotorHub International that the Singapore facility is set to receive its first engine for overhaul in the third quarter of this year.

A new modular test cell will also be established at the facility, which is expected to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2025.

“Singapore makes sense; we had to look at where the fleet is growing most,” said Makris, pointing to more than 600 PT6C-67C engines already in service in the Asia-Pacific region and that figure is set to climb further. The Singapore facility will provide service to 115 customers in the region, with those operators previously having to overhaul their engines in Canada.

Since it was established in 1983, the Singapore facility has developed into a central hub for all P&WC engine operations in the region, including as far south as Australia and New Zealand. The facility has expanded year-on-year, said Makris. In addition to PT6C-67C capabilities, the facility provides overhaul services for the PW100 regional turboprop engines, repair capabilities for a variety of turboprop, turbofan and turboshaft engines, as well as for the APS3200 auxiliary power unit for the Airbus A320.
