Robinson (RHC) has announced a retrofit kit for the new design horizontal stabiliser for the R66. The new stabiliser and tailcone, which bring a range of benefits compared with the earlier design, received FAA certification in September and are standard on newly built FAA-certified R66s (EASA certification is pending).

The kit allows the new stabiliser to be fitted without the requirement of a tailcone replacement. As an added bonus, Robinson is offering significant discounts on the kits for all orders placed before the end of next year (US$3,600 versus a list price of $6,760).

Commenting on the kit, RHC President Kurt Robinson said, “We encourage all R66 owners to install the new stabiliser configuration utilising the retrofit kit. The new stabiliser improves stability of the aircraft at high speeds and in turbulence.”
