eVTOL developer Joby has announced that it has completed the Means of Compliance phase of certification, although it admits that although there are items that remain outstanding, the process is “94% complete”.  According to the California-based company, the unresolved items are related to “minor design changes and improvements that may occur later in the certification process”. Joby says that it believes that it is the first western developer to reach this stage of the certification process and claims that it remains on track “to launch passenger service in 2025”.

Commenting on the announcement, Didier Papadopoulos, Head of Aircraft OEM at Joby, said: “Certification is an integral part of everything that an aerospace company does, and with the achievement of this critical milestone, we’re now able to confidently focus our efforts on closing the remaining certification plans and completing the testing required to certify our aircraft.”
