Horizon Aircraft have revealed that it has completed the assembly of its 50% scale proof of concept vehicle of its Cavorite X5 aircraft. The company say the prototype will now embark of a flight test programme where the airframe and its hybrid electric power plant flight envelopes will be explored. These are planned to include vertical as well as conventional flight and transition test points. At the time of writing the company had not revealed its expected test programme timetable. Commenting on the announcement the company’s CEO Brandon Robinson said; “with a 22-foot wingspan, 15 feet in length, and capable of speeds over 250 km/hr, this 50%-scale prototype is an impressive aircraft. Furthermore, it will yield valuable information that will help to reduce technical risk as we move forward with detailed design of our full-scale aircraft.”
