Helijet International has placed an order with Beta for up to eight Alia eVTOLs. Helijet said it plans to integrate the Alias with its existing network of helicopter services in the southern part of British Columbia. The company said that one of the drivers behind its selection of the Alia was Beta’s plans to develop IFR capability for the aircraft as a priority following certification, a key advantage in the climate of Pacific-Southwestern Canada.

Helijet said that it plans to initially use the Alias in a cargo and organ transport role, with passenger operations, including emergency response and air ambulance missions, following on. Commenting on the order, Helijet President and CEO Danny Sitnam said: “We are proud to partner with Beta Technologies, who are leaders in the advanced air mobility space. We are committed to introducing and integrating zero-emission, vertical lift technologies and related ground/building infrastructure in the communities we serve and look forward to transforming our current heliport infrastructure to meet future urban air mobility vertiport standards.”

The two companies didn’t reveal any details on the likely delivery schedule of the aircraft other than it would follow the certification of the Alia, which is expected in 2026.
