Eve Air Mobility is looking to convert letters of intent into firm orders for its eVTOL aircraft as soon as possible, with planned entry into service of 2026 “just around the corner”, says Johann Bordais, CEO.

Eve has started construction of a full-scale prototype of its eVTOL aircraft and expects to start flight testing in the second half of this year.

Eve has 2,850 LoIs for its eVTOL – the highest number for any eVTOL developer – with 28 customers in 14 countries. It also has 13 customers for its urban air traffic management (UATM) solution, with the Embraer company keen to build a total advanced air mobility ecosystem and not just a vehicle. Japanese vertiport developer SkyScape is the latest UATM customer, using Eve’s solution for an AAM concept of operations for the Japanese Government.

Asia-Pacific is set to be one of the most important markets for Eve, with 400 LoIs from customers in the region, said Bordais, including Australia, India, Japan and South Korea.

At the Singapore Air Show, Eve announced a memorandum of understanding with Singapore-based aviation group Yugo Global Industries to study the potential of urban air mobility and eVTOL flights in Southeast Asia. Private aviation network provider Yugo is supporting the development of regional air mobility in Southeast Asia, working with operators including PhilJets in the Philippines and Cambodia’s Helistar. Under the MoU, Eve and Yugo will work together, focusing on the infrastructure requirements to support eVTOL operations, including regulatory requirements.

Eve already has several partnerships in the region, including Jeju Air and Moviation in South Korea and Hunch Mobility in India, as part of its efforts to collaboratively build the ecosystems.

Eve also announced two more suppliers for the aircraft, with Aciturri to provide the wing skins, spars and leading and trailing edges, and Crouzet supplying pilot controls, including the inceptor (control stick). The manufacturer plans to announce its final suppliers in June.

Eve’s full-scale cabin mockup is making its debut at the Singapore Air Show as part of a world tour that started at the 2022 Farnborough Air Show.
