Enstrom Helicopter Corporation and Airwolf Aerospace have received a supplemental type certificate (STC) for the installation of True Blue Power TB17 Lithium-ion batteries, available for all Enstrom 480B model helicopters.
This bolsters Airwolf’s longstanding relationship with Enstrom as its supplier, having provided the main rotor Tension Torsion straps for Enstrom’s 280FX, F28-F and 480B helicopters.
The new TSO-certified True Blue Power TB17 Lithium-ion battery brings a variety of improved features, including a weight reduction of up to 63% compared with traditional helicopter batteries, a cooler engine with a higher voltage and a built-in battery heater, as well as an 8-year average battery life and a two-year maintenance cycle.
