CHC Helicopter has announced it has secured a contract to support the construction of the Dogger Bank A Offshore Wind Farm, a joint venture partnership between SSE Renewables, Equinor and Vårgrønn.

The Dogger Bank project, which lies in the central North Sea, is due to be constructed in three phases, known, perhaps unsurprisingly, as Dogger Bank A, B and C. When complete, the three phases will form the world’s largest wind farm, with 277 turbines capable of generating up to 3.6GW of electricity.

The contract, which requires crew change operations, calls for support flights to begin in April 2024 when construction of Dogger Bank A begins in earnest. CHC plans to support the contract with AW139s and H175s from its Norwich base in the east of England.

Commenting on the contract, Alan Borland, Senior Project Manager, Dogger Bank Wind Farm, said: “Being so far from shore presents new challenges to how we manage logistics in Offshore wind, which can only be overcome through the use of trusted suppliers. We are delighted that CHC will join the project as our aviation partner to support us in our crew changes during the construction of Dogger Bank Wind Farm.”
