Emergency air medical services operator Air Methods, in association with WellSpan Health, has opened a base in Lancaster County aimed at improving HEMS services in central and southern Pennsylvania. The new base is in addition to the established facility in Gettysburg and is the second joint venture between Air Methods and WellSpan Health. The base at Lancaster will operate an Airbus H130 and will operate on a 24/7/365 basis.

“We’re thrilled to continue the partnership with Air Methods and expand critical care access to the communities we serve,” said Dr Michael Seim, Senior Vice President and Chief Quality Officer at WellSpan Health. “By continuing the partnership, we are ensuring the best recovery possible for our patients.”

Meanwhile, Air Method’s LifeNet division which has been operating in NewYork State for more than 20 years, has opened a new base in Oneida County in the central part of the state. The new base LifeNet 7-14, which will also operate an H13o on a 24/7/365 basis, joins earlier bases in Johnstown, Sidney, and Watertown, which all respond to the Mohawk Valley and beyond.

“By opening this resource, LifeNet is positioned to not only improve access to emergency services but improve response times. With the need for additional services on already taxed EMS and healthcare systems not just in this state, but across the country, LifeNet is equipped and stands ready to support patient care and transport for the region,” explained LifeNet Account Executive Colleen Gleeson.
