Sikorsky have announced that the worlds’ S-92 fleet has chalked up a cumulative 2million flight hours. Reaching that milestone in half the calendar time it took to get to the 1 million hour milestone.
Today’s 300 strong S-92 fleet operates on a variety of missions in 28 countries. The company has also said that the global fleet has also maintained a 93 per cent availibility rate which it says is notable not only as a headline figure but also because of the operating environment of much of the fleet. “The 2 million flight hours milestone is a testament to the reliability, availability, and cost-effectiveness of the S-92 helicopter in some of the world’s most demanding conditions and no-fail missions,” said Leon Silva, Sikorsky’s interim vice president of Global Commercial and Military Systems. “Sikorsky is committed to supporting these critical missions with continued innovation to ensure operators can respond safely and with confidence, in any scenario.”
