SPAES has completed approval for Night Vision Imaging Systems (NVIS) filters for the Airbus AS332. The approval was made as a minor change utilising the company’s  EASA Part 21J Design Organisation approval pending the completion of a full STC approval. Carrying out the installation using the Part 21J approval ensured that the Super Puma’s VFR certification would remain valid pending the granting of the STC. While the project was carried out at SPAES, the installation was completed at a third-party Part 145 MRO facility.

Commenting on the project, SPAES CEO Joachim Schanz said, “The successful installation of NVIS filters in the AS332 helicopter underscores our commitment to elevating aviation safety without compromising regulatory standards.”
