PHI is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2024, with several activities to take place throughout the year.
PHI (Petroleum Helicopters, Inc.), initially called Petroleum Bell Helicopters, was founded in Lafayette, Louisiana, in 1949, specialising in helicopter transportation for seismic crews testing for oil and gas in the marshlands of South Louisiana. It has since grown to operate a fleet of more than 200 helicopters and has over 2,500 employees across the globe.
“PHI has pioneered many firsts over its 75-year history,” said Scott McCarty, Chairman and CEO of PHI Group. “From being the launch customer for several different airframe types to logging over 12 million flight hours, PHI has a rich history of innovation and performance – one that we’re extremely proud to continue today.”
PHI now includes its global energy services division, PHI Aviation, its US-based air ambulance provider, PHI Air Medical, its end-to-end logistics solution Helipass and its MRO division, PHI MRO Services.
“Congratulations to the PHI team on this incredible accomplishment,” added McCarty. “Every employee – past, present and future – plays a pivotal role in shaping our story.
