Leonardo has confirmed the appointment of Helitech Asia as its distributor for the AW09 in Southeast Asia. This confirms the preliminary announcement made during Heli-Expo in March when Helitech Asia placed an order for 10 AW09s with options on a further 10. Under the terms of the agreement, Helitech Asia’s territory will extend from Thailand in the west to South Korea in the north and eastwards to Indonesia and will include The Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia.
The flight test programme of the AWo9 is continuing, with the final conforming prototype expected to join the certification flight test programme during the course of the summer.
