Heli Austria has ordered 10 E3 night vision goggles from Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU) at EUROPEAN ROTORS in Madrid, making them the first operators in Austria to operate the goggles.

ASU will deliver the new E3 in early 2024 and will provide maintenance for Heli Austria for two years. The operator will use the goggles for its air ambulance HEMS operations in Austria.

“We wanted to purchase the E3 Goggles because it is the next evolution in goggle technology,” said Roy Knaus, CEO of Heli Austria. “These Goggles will be a big improvement for our crews. They are 30% lighter than AN/AVS-9 NVGs, which means less fatigue for our pilots.”

“Countless lives have been saved because of the incredible work of Heli Austria,” added Alexander Emmel, Chief Pilot, Director of Safety and European Sales Representative at ASU. “Whether it is rescuing skiers, helping a crash victim or assisting with search and rescue missions in extreme mountainous areas, their team of highly trained pilots and crew members are some of the most highly trained and skilled in the region.”
