Vita Inclinata Technologies, a provider of lifting technology, has announced the deployment of its Vita Rescue System (VRS) across the entire United States Air Force Reserve and United States Air National Guard fleets.
The VRS rescue hoist uses controls to counteract hoist spin and swing, reduces cycle counts for hoist rescues and enables taglineless rescues, making MEDEVAC rescue operations up to four times faster.
“This is a significant milestone for Vita Inclinata, representing our successful passage through the challenging ‘Valley of Death’ in defence technology development,” said Derek Sikora, co-founder and CTO of Vita Inclinata. “The strong collaboration between AATC, Air National Guard RQS squadrons, and the Vita team has driven the innovation necessary to overcome the hurdles in both development and acquisition processes. Our commitment to delivering next-generation man-machine teaming solutions, such as the VRS, deliver force-multiplying capabilities that enhance mission effectiveness, ensuring the safety of operators and those they rescue in critical situations.”
Vita Inclinata’s VRS will be used on warfighter helicopter rescue operations both domestically and internationally. It was developed with AFWERX, the innovation sector of the Department of the Air Force. The collaboration has been effective since 2018, with the hoist going through rigorous testing phases conducted by AFWERX.
The VRS was also assessed by the Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Command Test Centre from 2022 to 2024, undergoing operational unit assessments in live, challenging scenarios in Alaska and Canada.
The integration of the VRS system follows AFWERX’s ambitions to assist small businesses by leveraging and accelerating the period between development and operational capability.
