RotorSky has received an FTD 1 approval from Austro Control (which, in addition to its role as the state ANSP, is the licensing authority for pilots in Austria). The simulator, developed in cooperation with JFJ Aviation & Defense and multiSIM, is designed to provide high-quality NVIS training compliant with EASA PART-SPA. In addition to the new simulator, the company has also developed a syllabus to prepare pilots for NVIS operations.
The simulator features two visual systems to provide stimulated and simulated NVG operation. The Virtual Terrain Board (VTB), developed by JFJ, provides a night-realistic out-of-the-window view allowing use of any kind of real NVG. Meanwhile, D-World, developed by multiSIM, provides realistic simulated NVG and flying at night with VR goggles.
Dr Michael Mayrhofer, CEO of RotorSky, said: “The simulator marks another milestone in our consequent journey to bring highest pilot training quality to the market on a reasonable economical basis. Together with the syllabus, which was developed by the most experienced and international recognised expert, an ideal training solution for NVG was created.”
