Robinson Helicopter Company (RHC) has obtained FAA approval to extend the service life of R22 and R44 main and tail rotor blades from 12 to 15 years.

R22 and R44 owners will now benefit from reduced maintenance costs and increased operational efficiency, with this announcement following the FAA approval of limited life extension of specific parts for the R66 in September 2024.

“This is a huge improvement for R22 and R44 operators and a testament to the quality and engineering behind our aircraft,” said David Smith, President and CEO of RHC. “Reduced maintenance intervals mean greater cost-efficiency and reliability, reaffirming our dedication to providing industry-leading solutions for our customers.”

Robinson has implemented certain maintenance requirements for the R22 and R44s as outlined in the Airworthiness Limitations Sections (ALS), such as a list of fatigue life-limited parts and regular inspections and maintenance.
