Advanced air mobility and eVTOL developer Overair has appointed Tom Whayne as its new Chief Financial Officer with immediate effect. As CFO, Whayne will oversee Overair’s financial operations and provide strategic guidance to the company during its path to commercialisation.

Prior to joining Overair, Whayne was Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at Maxar Technologies, and he was also CFO of OneWeb, where he led OneWeb in raising more than US$3 billion of funding for the company’s development. Whayne brings over 20 years of experience as an investment banker, having held Managing Director positions at Credit Suisse First Boston, Morgan Stanley and Rothschild.

Speaking about his new role with Overair, Whayne said: “I am thrilled to join such an illustrious team with such a storied heritage. Overair’s commitment to revolutionising transportation and creating sustainable solutions for urban mobility is truly inspiring. It is an incredibly exciting time to be part of the advanced air mobility movement.”

Whayne’s arrival to the team solidifies the strength of Overair’s C-suite during the company’s pivotal period of momentum. Overair completed full-scale propulsion testing for its Butterfly aircraft in the second quarter of 2022 and will be executing its full-scale prototype programme in 2023.

“We are immensely proud to welcome Tom to the team,” said Ben Tigner, co-founder and CEO of Overair. “His finance and operating background in orbital platform companies position him perfectly to help Overair prepare for rapid scaling.”
