Mechanical Specialties has been granted FAA approval for a Supplementary Type Certificate (STC) which allows its ADEC 350 external cargo hook to be installed on Bell 206L/L1/L3/L4s. The company says that the ADEC system is a ‘fundamental advance in cargo hook design’ pointing to the fully independent load systems and redundant dual actuation capability.
Furthermore, says the company the design of the system means that since no component changes are required to switch from Human External Cargo (HEC) and non-HEC loads mission profiles, simplying operations and reducing risk.
