Recoil Aerospace Inc. reports a further deployment of its Tsunami T650-E tank system for the H225 Super Puma during a major incident. Last month, a major industrial fire broke out in a manufacturing complex in South Korea. The fire, fanned by high winds, produced such a volume of heat that it damaged or destroyed 30 buildings surrounding the seat of the fire. Conditions forced firefighters on the ground to work from a distance, requesting assistance from Korea’s 119 Emergency Service and its H225 firefighting helicopters.

The Recoil Aerospace Tsunami-equipped H225 Super Pumas proved effective in slowing the advance of the fire perimeter with precise water drops and rapid turnarounds. Recoil Aerospace points to the benefits of the directly mounted Tsunami system, which allows flights over urban population centres without the hazard of underslung, jettisonable loads.

“From a pilot’s perspective, the Tsunami AFSS is robust, fast to fly, reliable and highly manoeuvrable,” said Recoil Aerospace President and pilot Joseph Rice, “Aerial suppression efforts become more efficient given rapid turnarounds and rapid response to incidents.”
