The first Canadian Forces CH-146 Griffon has arrived at Heli-One’s Vancouver facility to begin upgrade work in accordance with the Griffon Limited Life Extension (GLLE) programme.
Heli-One is carrying out the work as a contractor to Bell Textron, which was awarded the CAN$800 million GLLE contract by the Canadian Government in April of 2022, with Heli-One named as the contractor in February of this year. Under the agreement, Heli-One will incorporate modifications to modernise the CH-146 helicopter and extend the life of the fleet.
Earlier this year, Bell also appointed Heli-One to provide In-Service Support for CH-146 Griffon helicopters for the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) in a contract valued at over CAN$150 million over five years and which has the option to extend for up to five more years.
Under the agreements, Heli-One will be a subcontractor and key supplier to Bell, whereby Heli-One personnel will provide first- and second-line maintenance services onsite at military bases across Canada, in Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick, as well as GLLE support in its Vancouver facility.
