In his briefing this afternoon, Leonardo CEO Alessandro Profumo assured the media that certification of the AW609 is now “really close” and underlined the company’s intention to focus of the entry to production of the 609 before getting involved in a future project.
In the same briefing he declined to say if the future of the company’s production facility in Yeovil was tied to Leonardo’s NMH bid being successful but he did allow that in the event of a successful bid production of the AW189 would move to the UK from Italy.
