The 2023 iteration of EUROPEAN ROTORS opened in Madrid today to much fanfare. The central theme of this morning’s pre-opening briefing was EUROPEAN ROTORS as a celebration of an industry that at its core, is there to serve society. Several speakers pointed to the myriad of missions performed by operators for the benefit of society as a whole rather than the one-percenters that popular belief imagines.
That theme was perhaps best summed up by HAI President Jim Viola, who said, “There are those who point at helicopters and talk of noise that is passing by; we find the lost, carry the sick and injured, fight the fires, protect the citizenry, build the infrastructure. That is not noise. That is the sound of service passing by.”
