Entrol has announced it will now offer Mixed Reality (MR) in its simulators. While VR systems have gained a lot of traction in recent years and their emulation is very impressive, Entrol said that the retention of ‘real world’ interaction in the pilot/aircraft interface – switches feel like switches, buttons like buttons – the immersion in the simulation is further enhanced than it is in a VR system thus creating a more effective training solution.

The virtual vision benefits of an all-around view are obvious, especially when training for VFR and mission-specific scenarios. In addition, Entrol points to the MR system’s ‘remote connectability’ with other devices, which creates the possibility for ‘whole crew’ or multi-ship training scenarios without physically being in the same location. In addition, the company said the replacement of the external visuals system significantly reduces the simulator’s footprint, making transportation and installation easier.

The MR system has been developed using one of Entrol’s simulators based on an Airbus H145 D3, but the Madrid-based company said the system will be available on all of its devices.
