It is with sadness that RotorHub International has learned of the passing of Bruno Bagnoud, one of the founders of Air Glaciers who died at the age of 87 last Sunday. A pioneer of mountain rescue he, with Hermann Geiger and Fernand Martignoni founded Air Glaciers with a single Alouette III in 1965 with the goal of creating a helicopter borne mountain rescue service.

Since that time, he dedicated his life to the development of one the world’s best rescue systems. Despite hard knocks, setbacks and personal tragedy he never wavered from his quest. A man known for his perseverance, generosity and humanitatian spirit responsible to saving thousands of lives. He will be sorely missed not only by his colleagues at Air Glaciers but also the wider community.

Merci Monsieur Bagnoud, et bon vol.
