Bristow announces latest cadet programme

Bristow Group has reported that applications are currently being accepted for its third UK offshore helicopter pilot cadet programme, which is being run in conjunction with training provider Helicentre Aviation.

Bristow and Helicentre launched the first cadet programme in 2019. It was established to provide a pathway that would enable cadets to graduate and transition from training straight into employment with Bristow.

Four applicants will be selected for the latest programme, and Bristow will fully fund the successful candidates’ training as they work towards gaining a commercial pilot’s licence with a multi-engine instrument rating over a 15-month period.

Matt Rhodes, director UK oil and gas at Bristow, commented: “Aviation is constantly evolving to meet the needs of the people and industries who rely on aircraft to safely travel to work and deliver vital resources in one of the harshest operating environments in aviation.

“Our commitment to funding the next generation has continued for decades, and our close working relationship with Helicentre has helped to not only develop commercial helicopter pilots for the future, but also make what is for many a dream job a reality.”

Neil Ebberson, Bristow’s director of UK search and rescue, noted: “By building on the skills learned through the cadetship, further enhanced by working in a multicrew environment, successful cadets from previous programmes now play a key part in the successful operational delivery of the world-class search and rescue services we deliver in the UK and internationally.”

The final date for applications is currently listed as 22 May. A rigorous selection process will then take place, with the chosen candidates’ training due to commence at Helicentre’s Leicester Airport facility in September.
