Russian Helicopters has received an order from Bangladesh’s Ministry of Home Affairs for two Mi-171A2 helicopters. The aircraft, which are scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2023, will be used by the Bangladesh Police.

“The contract we signed is the logical outcome of our sustained efforts to promote our civil helicopters abroad,” noted Andrey Boginsky, director general of Russian Helicopters. “We view it as a key result of the demo tour of Southeast Asia we took our helicopters on at the end of 2018, which featured the Mi-171A2.

“What’s especially great is that this contract was signed at the end of an eventful week that our holding spent at the Dubai Airshow, where we also presented the Mi-171A2,” he added. Russian Helicopters had previously announced the signing of a contract at the show for the delivery of two Mi-171A2s to Peru.

The twin-engine, multirole Mi-171A2 obtained type certification in Russia in 2017. The first foreign operators of the helicopter were in Kazakhstan and India. In addition, the type has been approved by the aviation authorities of Colombia and South Korea, and the manufacturer expects certification to follow in China, Brazil, Mexico, Peru and other countries.
