Vancouver Island-based Ascent Helicopters has been awarded a contract to deliver HEMS service to British Columbia Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) valued at CAN$544m. The company which has operated HEMS on Vancouver Island on behalf of BCEHS for a number of years will see its operations expand to cover communities across the province.

To support the new contract the company will open bases at Kamloops, Qualicum Beach, Prince Rupert, Prince George as well as Vancouver and is already expanding operations at its Parkville headquarters. In addition, the company says it will acquire seven AW169s for the contract.

The contract is due to begin in the Autumn of 2024.
