Archer has announced that it has won the competitive bid process which will allow it to acquire Lilium GmbH’s portfolio of more than 300 air mobility patent assets for EUR 18 million, including patents relating to key innovations in high-voltage systems, battery management, advanced aircraft design, flight controls, electric engines, propellers, and ducted fans.
The move comes against a background of extended wrangling in the German bankruptcy courts over the protracted fate of the defunct company’s assets.
Archer says the acquisition strengthens its position and “reinforces its commitment to ensuring the US leads the way when it comes to critical eVTOL technology”.
