In conversation with a panel of the aerospace media at last Friday’s opening of Airbus Helicopters UK’s new headquarters, CEO Bruno Even underlined the company’s intention to tackle the growing backlog for the medium-twins by doubling production rates. “This year, we plan to deliver close to 100 145s, which is a huge jump versus what we delivered last year. But starting this year, our objective is to double that using the assembly lines in Germany and the one in the US.”

How that goal will be achieved and on what timescale, Even said it is too early to tell, noting that Airbus are in the process “of organising ourselves” to see how and where this production increase can be realised.
