Canadian avionics manufacturer Anodyne Electronics Manufacturing Corp (AEM) has been granted a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for its MTP136D P25 forest service radio. Transport Canada awarded the STC, which will permit the radio to be installed in all H125 aircraft.
The MTP136D is a Project 25 Phase 1 compliant VHF FM solution for digital and analogue communication, spanning all channels across the 136MHz to 174MHz frequency band. The radio also features an NVIS-compatible screen displaying all channel and operational information. Upgrading the device in the aircraft is simple, with a plug-and-play type replacement, enabling H125 (AS350) aircraft to be updated to the technology with ease.
“This acknowledgement makes it even easier for folks on the front lines battling intense wildfires to have the most up-to-date communication equipment at their fingertips,” said Tony Weller, AEM’s Sales and Marketing Director. “We want to get these radios to those who need them as quickly as possible, and this STC helps integrators make that happen.”
The MTP136D is expected to receive formal USFS acceptance. The devices are currently shipping and being installed throughout North America.
